Our Second Learning Trip to Hobart Bluff

This is Pilot Rock.  When you hike on it, it gets tricky because it is all rock and you can't get good traction under your feet.  The view from Hobart Bluff was beautiful.  The walk up was very tiring because it was such a steep climb.  It took about an hour to hike up, and only about fifteen minutes to come back down.  ~  Milan

  1. To Fourth Grade,
Is that mountain a tourist attraction in your country?
When you went down did anyone slip?
When you went up the mountain and looked down were you scared?
Why did you go up the mountain what were you learning about?

    1. Hello Room 11!

Amani~I don't think that the mountain is a tourist attraction, but it is a popular hiking trail for those living in Ashland.

Isaac~ Yes, some people slipped while going down. They slipped because there was loose dirt and rocks all around.

Amani~ I was not scared at all, because I am used to hiking a lot. Other people were scared though. We were very high up.

Isaac~ We were learning about plants and volcanoes. We learned about Mt. Ashland, Mt. Shasta and Pilot Rock. There were wild roses and oak trees and sugar pine with their pine cones still attached.

  2. Hello Fourth Grade,
We are wondering if your school is by Crater Lake. Our class hasn't gone on a hike yet but lots of kids go hiking with their parents. Some of our favourite hikes are: Lake Minnewanka, Tunnel Mountain, Rundle, Takkaka Falls, Cascade, Grassi Lakes, Johnston's Canyon, Sunshine and there is LOTS more!

To answer your question, our school is not by Crater Lake, it is actually two hours away! We got to ride a bus to the lake. The ride there was really fun with all of our friends. Do you ride buses to your field trips?

    2. Hello Ms. Feist's Class!

Peach~ We are a few hours away from Crater Lake. It was only a 30 minute drive to Hobart Bluff. Hobart Bluff is hot and dry. There was not a lot of alive flowers, but there were a lot of dried up flowers. We haven't had a lot of rain up there. The view from up there was really pretty, and you could tell we were up very, very high. At times you could see the road far below us.

Skylar~ It would be cool to hike in all of those places. I wonder how much water Takkaka Falls has? Will you get to go on a field trip to any of these places? And if so, which one do you get to go to? Are any of those places that you mentioned volcanoes?

    4. Skylar~ I was wondering if you will get to go on any field trips to those places that you mentioned? I think that I would like to go to those places with you. Is there a lot of water at Takkaka Falls? Are any of those places that you mentioned volcanoes? How far away from your school are those hiking places?
